Risk of Dependency Following Microsurgical Clipping in Good Grade Patients With Ruptured Anterior Circulation Aneurysms

چکیده

Background and Aim: Most good grade (WFNS I II) patients who undergo microsurgical clipping achieve a favorable outcome. However, some independent before surgery face unfavorable outcomes after the operation, signifying impact of clipping. This study aimed to identify risk developing dependency in without previous neurological deficits. Methods Materials/Patients: We reviewed 50 consecutive with ruptured anterior circulation aneurysms underwent between May 2017 2020 Department Neurosurgery, Punjab Institute Neurosciences, Lahore, Pakistan. The clinical outcome at discharge three months follow-up was assessed using Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS). Results: In this study, seven (14%) became dependent (GOS II III) following Of whom, five (10%) suffered surgical insult form intraoperative rupture (4%), post-op infarct direct brain damage (2%). Conclusion: Patients neurologic deficit pre-operatively still suffer mainly due operative complications. Vascular injuries remain main cause morbidity-producing dependency. Therefore, all techniques must minimize vessels, both during dissection clip placement.

Microsurgical clipping in forty patients with unruptured anterior cerebral circulation aneurysms: an investigation into cognitive outcome.

OBJECTIVE It is a consensus that most unruptured intracranial aneurysms (UIA) can be treated with acceptably low morbidity. However, some studies recently reported postoperative cognitive impairment, suggesting that it could be attributable to surgical damage. Our goal is to evaluate cognitive function before and after microsurgical clipping in patients with UIA. METHOD A consecutive series o...

Keyhole Approach Combined With External Ventricular Drainage for Ruptured, Poor-Grade, Anterior Circulation Cerebral Aneurysms

Poor-grade ruptured anterior circulation cerebral aneurysms are frequently associated with severe vasospasm and high morbidity rates despite recent remarkable advances in endovascular coiling. Here, we explored the feasibility of keyhole approach combined with external ventricular drainage for ruptured, poor-grade, anterior circulation cerebral aneurysms. We retrospectively assessed the records ...
